  • 1-6th Time For A Cuppa Week (Dementia)
    Time for a Cuppa week is a national campaign that raises funds to support families that face dementia. The campaign runs from 1 to 8 May and encourages people to host a tea party and donate, raising vital funds for life-changing support.
  • 2nd World Tuna Day
    The United Nations (UN) established World Tuna Day on May 2 to raise awareness about the importance of tuna and to promote more sustainable fishing practices. It is observed for the first time in 2017.
  • 11th World Fair Trade Day
    The World Fair Trade Day is a global celebration on the second Saturday of May. It is organised annually by the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) to raise awareness on alternative solutions to the planet's economic and ecological challenges.
  • 13th International Hummus Day
    Many regions around the Eastern crescent of the Mediterranean claim to be the one true originator of the delectable spread. The first real mention of hummus in a cookbook was found in 13th century Cairo, where it appears as merely a cold chickpea puree, and notably lacks lemon juice and garlic – including instead pickled lemons with oil, herbs, and spices. It still sounds pretty good to us.
  • 13th World Cocktail Day
    World Cocktail Day marks the publication date of the first definition of a cocktail on May 13 in 1806. The New York tabloid The Balance and Columbian Repository defined a cocktail as "a stimulating liquor, composed of spirits of any kind, sugar, water and bitters".

  • 18th World Whiskey Day
    World Whiskey Day was launched in 2009 at the Whiskey Day Festival in the northern Netherlands in the presence of several whiskey writers. The event was created in honor of British writer Michael Jackson and is celebrated on Jackson's birthday.
